Enabling NATO success - from missile and cyber defence to information dominance, robust communications and the campaign against Improvised Explosive Devices in Afghanistan - the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency (NC3A) is responsible for delivering cutting-edge technology in support of NATO's missions and decision-makers; the lion's share of the capabilities are procured from Industry.
Our portfolio includes over 500 projects, and in 2009 we signed over 300 million Euro worth of contracts on behalf of NATO; in total, we have over 3 billion Euro on contract.
As a NATO body, we serve the NATO Alliance and its constituent Nations and agencies. We also have an important role to play in supporting NATO Partner Nations and entities with which NATO has close ties.
Uniquely in NATO, we are 100% customer-funded, meaning our customers are our only source of operating revenue. The customer-funding regime brings with it responsiveness, private sector-like financial discipline and transparency.
Information - and the ability to share it rapidly across a coalition - plays a paramount role in 21st century operations, as well as political decision-making. We work with Nations to help ensure that coalition capabilities can 'plug and play'; this allows NATO Allies - and their partners, civil and military - to respond to security threats and challenges where and when necessary.
Serving NATO for over 50 years, we accompanied Alliance soldiers as they crossed the Rubicon into Bosnia on NATO's first ever peacekeeping mission; we are with them in Afghanistan and Iraq today. We are leading the technical work in areas the new Strategic Concept adopted by Heads of State and Government at the NATO Summit in Lisbon addresses, including new challenges such as cyber and missile defence. Last but not least, at a time of tight defence budgets, we offer Nations a cost-effective vehicle for multinational cooperation to deliver advanced technology at a reasonable cost.
We are a strategy-focused organization, with every one of our staff committed to achieving an exceptional standard of excellence. We hire only the best, and provide the environment and leadership to coalesce our workforce into an unbiased, impartial, and dedicated team. Alliance success is our only aim and purpose. I am proud of the contributions our people make to NATO on a daily basis.

In 2009 and 2010, by partnering with Industry and leveraging our expertise and experience, we have cut the time it takes to deliver advanced capabilities to support our soldiers - even in very difficult conditions - to under six months.
